film wizard: Post 16 Date-4/21/2011

Film Wizard here. Well it's almost the end of the school holidays. Which means that kids will soon be back at school working, I know I will. Some kids on the school holidays try to do everything they can do before it ends. Well at least I believe that. So if you've just been staying at home, playing Call Of Duty and chatting with your friends on Facebook and Skype during this time, you're not seeing the point I'm trying to say. Go outside, take your friends and just do something crazy and if you have no friends still do something crazy.

Does anybody like going to the zoo? Because when you see this movie, you might actually wanna go to the zoo. This film Zookeeper is about a zookeeper who's tired of spending his life at the zoo and can't win the girl of his dreams. So he decides to find another line of work. But the animals at the zoo want him to stay because he's the only human who cares for them. So they decide to tell him their biggest secret: they can talk! so they must convince him to stay. Sorry about the spoiler alert.

If you've seen Planet Of The Apes, it's a real classic. But some fans of the movie wonder "How did it become the planet of the apes?" Well that question will be answered in the movie Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes. It's about a scientist who creates a drug that makes your brain become rapidly intelligent. But when they test it on apes, they become intelligent and believe that they should become the dominant species. And then they kinda take over the world. It's pretty much an origin story. It might be pretty good so maybe you should watch it when it comes out.

It's review time! Today I saw the movie Thor based on the Marvel comic books which are based on the myth of the actual Norse god of thunder. It's about a god's journey from turning his arrogance into wisdom and it's also about also about family trust. This movie has action, friendship, romance, betrayal, family and a little bit of comedy. Too me, that sounds like a perfect movie with the whole package. And it has a breathtaking climax. So I'm giving this superhero flick 10 OUT OF 10 STARS.

Well that's it for this post. So read this, tell your friends and you can post a comment to tell me how this post is. And post a comment to tell me what's your favourite movie and I might show it on my next post. Film Wizard signing off.

film wizard: Post 15 Date-4/13/2011

Film Wizard here. Do you know what I see. That when you're a kid, every movie you see is always so dazzling and great and then when you grow up and see some of those movies you saw when you were young you say "WOW! That stinks!". Chris Rock said that when he hosted the 77th Annual Academy Awards. If you've ever seen an Academy Awards ceremony, the host or hosts would either be funny or a great singer or if you're lucky, both. Anyway let's get started.

LET'S MAKE SOME MONEY! Is something you are going to hear from Australia's own Hugh Jackman as a trainer to a boxer. But not just any wrestler, a ROBOT BOXER! This movie is set in a world where human boxer have been replaced by the fuel and action of robots which humans create and train and put them in the ring. With the help of his son, a washed up boxer rediscovers the love of the sport by making and training their own robot. And also make a little money for their winnings in the process. It is directed by Shawn Levy who directed Night At The Museum, Cheaper By The Dozen and The Pink Panther. Let's see how he'll do with a sci-fi boxing flick instead of a comedy flick. It's coming out in October.  LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLE!

Last November, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 took audiences worldwide on a wild ride from start to finish. But the story of the harry potter and the story deathly hallows didn't end with that movie. The saga still continues with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. It picks up right where the other one left off with the death of house elf Dobby, and finishes with death of Lord Voldemort. How many more characters you've known and loved will have to die just for one 17 year old? Well, you're gonna have to see the movie yourself in July to find out.

It's review time. The movie to review today is Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules. The first movie was about how to survive and cope with middle school, well this one is about finding the goodness in your sibling an exacting revenge on your sibling as well. It's not as good as the first Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie but it's just as okay and it's pretty funny. It's very friendly for all ages and you might learn a little value about how cool it is to have a brother or sister. Or you can just watch the movie and say you like it.

This post was a bit long wasn't it. Anyway read this, tell your friends and post a comment if you like. I'll be back next Wednesday or Thursday to give you more news on movies. Film Wizard signing off!

film wizard: Post 14 Date-4/7/2011

Film Wizard here. It's the school holidays for kids and guess who I'm spending it with, alone at the movies with my 8 year old brother. Yes, I'm that lonely. I just wish I could get a date sometime. Sometimes I feel like no one likes me. Some life huh?

Any way, here's our first movie. This film is fast, yet furious and is the sequel to the fast and the furious quadrilogy. Welcome to the world of Fast and Furious 5(Fast Five in the US)! The idea of the movie is to pull all of your favourite characters from the fast and the furious series and just have fun. With one exception, to have the very famous former WWE superstar, THE ROCK! This movie is gonna have tons of action and of course, plenty of cars and street races! I'll see if a can put a link below.

The name's Jack Sparrow. Captain Jack Sparrow. Not really but I wanted to give yous the idea of the next movie. As you know, the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise has been one of the most successful franchises in movie history. Well say hello again to Captain Sparrow in the next installment Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. This time, Johnny Depp will be sailing to the fountain of youth. But must get there before the lengendary pirate Blackbeard does. Thrilling.

Now a little something for the girls. It's time to review the new film Red Riding Hood. It's pretty romantic but a little scary. So if you're gonna see it when you're on a date, guys the girls could cover their eyes and you'll be there for a cuddle up. But it is a chick flick and it's a little bit like Twilight. But the problem is it's nothing like the original fairy tale for children. It's totally messed up. So I'm giving it 5 OUT OF 10 STARS.

As usual, read this and post a comment. So people, don't be alone on the holidays or you might end up like me. Happy Easter Everybody!

film wizard: Post 13 Date-3/31/2011

Film Wizard here. Everywhere I look, people say I have an American accent. Then they say "Where did you get that accent?" and I say "I don't know, I just have it.". People who say this to me, I know I have an American accent so just don't tell me i have one. ok?

The first transformers film was a modernized version of the classic toy robot. The second film had too much jokes and slang. In July, people will see what the third transformers film awaits whether it is either triumphant or one big failure. Transformers: Dark of the Moon is about alien robots of course so i guess that's all I know.

During school holidays, if you want to see a movie for a date or for fun you should see Just Go With It. It stars comedy legend Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. It's a comedy about a womaniser who tells women he's married so they can play the pity card. But when he meets the girl of his dreams, he has to tell her he's getting divorced but she wants to meet the ex-wife. It's funny and perfect for the holidays. I'm giving this 8 OUT OF 10 STARS.

Now this action chick flick is from the director of 300 and Watchmen. It's like The Great Escape meets Inception. It's about five girls who aren't crazy try to escape a mental institution by creating creating three different fantasy worlds where they are soldiers and must find the way out. It is called Sucker Punch and is in cinemas April 7th.

I'm still going to be posting during the holidays but I'm still going to be relaxing and you should be too. Film Wizard signing off.

film wizard: Post 12 Date-3/27/2011

Film wizard here. I know a lot about movies but I see that I now don't know all movies. Someone even gave me a nickname today. Movie man. Post a comment and tell me how you feel about that.

Everyone at least remembers the smurfs right? The little blue people wearing white. Well Hollywood has ran out of movie ideas so they decided to do a movie about the smurfs. Here's some of the actors who will be in the movie.

Hank Azaria-Gargamel
(voices numerous characters from The Simpsons)

Neil Patrick Harris-Patrick Winslow
(plays Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother)

Jayma Mays-Grace Winslow
(plays Emma from Glee)

Sofia Vergara-Odile
(plays Gloria from Modern Family)

Frank Langella- The Narrator
(plays Richard M. Nixon from Frost/Nixon)

Jonathan Winters-Papa Smurf
(plays numerous roles in the film The Adventures Of Rocky & Bullwinkle)

Katy Perry-Smurfette
(famous pop singer)

Anton Yelchin-Clumsy Smurf
(plays Kyle Reese from Terminator Salvation)

Fred Armisen-Brainy Smurf
(regular player on the American comedy sketch show Saturday Night Live)

George Lopez-Grouchy Smurf
(voices Papi from Beverly Hills Chihuahua)

And many more actors will voice numerous other smurfs. Also the smurfs will be CGI. The plot is that the smurfs are transported from their village to New York City.

The X-Men have been around for years from comic books to TV shows and to films. Well imagine how it all began. A new X-men film will release in June to tell how the X-Men first started with a sleuth of new characters. The people who star in the film you'll have seen them in some movies but no one really knows who they are. Oh, the movie is called X-Men: First Class by the way. the film is set in the 60's. GROOVY!

It's review time! I will now review the film big mommas: like father, like son. Like the second film, I felt that a sequel was unnecessary for the first big momma film. And each big momma film is targeted to a different audience. The first was for mostly adults. The second one was targeted to a family audience. And the third one was targeted for teen audiences. These filmmakers are just messing with our heads now. The new big momma film didn't even focus on Martin Lawrence's character and he's the main character. I'm giving this film 2 OUT OF 10 STARS.

I should actually start making longer posts. Anyway, if anyone is reading this try and post a comment and then tell all your friends. This is the film wizard signing off.

film wizard: Post 10 Date-1/17/2011

Film Wizard here. The 68th Golden Globe Awards happened on Sunday and to me, it's one of the most important awards for movies of the year besides the Oscars.
When The Green Hornet came on Friday, I went to the cinemas immediately. The dialogue was a little cheesy and the same with the storyline. But I think Seth Rogen was good for the roll as the Green Hornet and same as Jay Chou as Kato. I saw how Jay Chou created his own version of Kato unlike Bruce Lee's version. And that awesome car was the best thing out of the whole movie. It had gatling guns, flamethrowers, missiles, bulletproof glass and spinning rims. I guess I'll give it 7 OUT OF 10 STARS.

People know that World War II was one of the most notable wars in history. Well, what if America had Chris Evans as a superhero on their side. Find out in July when he does play one in Captain America: The First Avenger. Agent Smith also known as Hugo Weaving is going to be the big bad nazi as The Red Skull. That's all I know so far for the movie.

I don't really believe in the norse gods, but it's a bit weird that they're making a movie about one of them as a superhero. Thor comes out in May. The trailer does look cool and so does the cast  along with the costumes.

You'll be seeing Thor and Captain America together along with Iron Man and The Hulk in The Avengers in 2012.
